Tips from the team on building your Winter Arc ahead of 2026
If you’ve got your ear to the zeitgeist [hello, TikTok], you’ve probably scrolled past talk of The Great Lock In – the latest evolution of 2023’s viral Winter Arc trend. This four-month seasonal phenomenon sets out to supercharge your wellness routine between September and December so you roll into the new year with more momentum, clarity, and calm.
Championed by creators and productivity influencers across the internet, the movement invites participants to swap distractions like doom-scrolling for daily consistency and self-accountability. It can apply across any and all areas of life, from health to career, from relationships to finance – with a focus on personal growth, discipline and self-improvement. Best of all, unlike the typical new years’ resolutions of yesteryear – which can often feel time-sensitive and unachievable – this method takes a more preemptive approach. In a nutshell: Why wait for January 1st to make a change when you could ‘lock in’ now? Why waste your winter when it could be your 2026 warm-up?
At MoreYoga, we’re all for any movement that brings positive change to people’s lives, especially one that can be fuelled by a little yoga. We also appreciate that focus, discipline, and self-improvement can mean different things to different people. We also know that inspiration and motivation come in waves. So whether you’re #LockingIn full throttle, gently shaping your #WinterArc, or find the grind & hustle of it all a bit much, we’ve cherry-picked a few thoughts from the MoreYoga team to help spark ideas, rituals, or reflections ahead of the festive season and new year.

Daniel Marin, COO & Founding Team
‘When things get busy – operations, studio openings, constant movement – it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. Lately I’ve been thinking more about practising what we at MoreYoga preach, and have started the simple ritual of practising gratitude. I can’t say I stick to the same time or routine every day, but I’m taking a mindful pause as it occurs, to mentally list the graces in life – big and small. It’s been about a month and so far, practising gratitude has not only helped bring me back to the present moment, it has given me even more appreciation for the business and my fabulous team. It’s a grounding reminder that beneath the systems and schedules, there’s meaning, purpose and connection.’
Giorgia Moras, Head of Studio Timetable
For the rest of 2025, I’m committing to a “10k steps a day” challenge I launched with my colleagues. Working remotely has made it far too easy to stay indoors, and as a single woman in London with cats and groceries delivered, I realised how little I actually go outside when I don’t have to. Chatting with colleagues made it clear I wasn’t the only one feeling that way, so to keep ourselves moving we set up this shared challenge: 10,000 steps every day, together, even if apart.
It’s made me much more conscious of how easy it is to move my body just by getting out for a walk. Hitting those steps gives me a small but real sense of achievement, and I often find myself walking longer or choosing to walk instead of hopping on a bus. It’s become a simple way to push back against that lazy mindset and funnily enough, the more I walk, the more energy I seem to have.
Darren Desscan, Head of Community Engagement
I have always been fascinated by culture, particularly music culture and how it helps shape cities like London. I’m a total music nerd and outside of my Community role with MoreYoga, my passion is DJing [catch me at The Jazz Cafe in Camden!]. With the year coming to a close, one thing I’m keen to do is make time for the music I love. Kicking back with my favourite tracks is my form of meditation, and we all have that album we’ve been meaning to listen to but can’t seem to find the time. So whether it’s digging through the crates of old record shops or dusting off a vinyl from the golden ages of hip hop, you’ll find me ‘locking in’ my music habits from this day forward.
Holly Evans, MoreYoga Teacher Training Manager
As the days grow darker and colder and we make the inevitable adjustment to Winter, my yoga students and I were searching for ways to stay positive and inspired. After a teaching on a retreat in Sweden and appreciating the art of cosiness, we wanted to make the most of the Winter months whilst trying something mindful for which we could keep each other accountable. Therefore our Wholesome Winter Challenge was created! Every day this season, we’re each tasked with picking a small act that helps bring us peace and cosyness. Luckily our chosen rituals don’t require approval from the group [phew!] but part of the fun is sharing pictures and updates over Whatsapp. Activities so far include long walks, soaking up morning light for vitamin D, lighting our favourite candle, heading to bed an hour earlier, and practising some gentle Yin yoga in line with the season.
However you’re spending your season, remember that ‘locking in’ doesn’t have to mean shutting out the world sometimes it’s about tuning in more deeply to what makes you feel alive.
