Michaela it’s been a pleasure working with Kai Interiors on the “Project Studio Experience”, it would be great if you could introduce yourself a little for our community

Hello! You may have been one of the lucky few to experience the refreshed look of the MoreYoga studios, so I thought it would be the perfect moment to introduce myself. I’m Michaela Reysenn, interior designer and founder of KAI Interiors. We specialise in designing spaces that promote health and wellbeing, as well as hospitality, workplace, and residential projects. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to evolve the MoreYoga brand, creating spaces that will not only enhance your practice but offer you an entirely new experience. From visual aesthetics to sustainability, durability, customer flow, and sensory immersion, every detail has been carefully considered. You can now enjoy studios with calming scents to help you ease into your practice, creating a truly transformative environment.

You are a MoreYoga practitioner, why is your yoga practice important to you?

As a business owner and mother, my days are a whirlwind of responsibilities. My mornings begin at 6 a.m. and often stretch late into the night. While I adore every moment of it, I also know how easy it is to lose sight of balance, juggling work, family, and taking some time out for myself. Fitting in a workout can feel like a challenge, but I know how crucial it is for my mental and physical health. If I’m not in good shape, I can’t show up as my best self for my team or my family.

I’m not a runner or a regular at the gym, but about ten years ago, my partner gifted me a beginner yoga course, and that’s when my love for yoga truly began. A transformative surf and yoga retreat in Morocco deepened my practice even further. My teacher was a calming, nurturing presence, guiding us through each pose and teaching us the art of mindful breathing. It was an experience that allowed me to quiet my mind, stopping the endless loop of ‘to-do lists’ and giving me the chance to be fully present in the moment. Yoga has taught me to tune into how my body feels, something that’s essential in today’s fast-paced world.

For me, yoga needs to be accessible, especially close to home, so I can slip out for a session without losing precious time. With so much on my plate, every minute counts.

How did your creative journey with MoreYoga start?

A few years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Shamir, the founder of MoreYoga. He introduced me to the MoreYoga community, and I was immediately struck by its inclusive ethos. I soon realised that there were studios in convenient locations, with one just a short walk from my house. On top of that, MoreYoga offered some of the most affordable yoga classes in London. Given that many other studios charge £25 or more per class, yoga can quickly become an expensive habit, making it hard to practice regularly. I truly believe yoga should be accessible to all, not just the wealthiest, and I immediately connected with MoreYoga’s mission of inclusivity.

As an interior designer, however, I felt the spaces could use a touch of magic. That’s when Shamir and his team reached out, and I was honoured to help create a new interior identity for the MoreYoga studios. This new design was the missing puzzle piece, and we’ve been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the studio spaces reflect this evolution.

What was your thought process behind designing the new look for the studios?

Having practiced yoga in studios across the globe, I’ve encountered many different designs. Many spaces follow the minimalist trend, often relying on simple Scandi furniture, but, while clean, they sometimes lack a certain warmth or energy. Yoga is about so much more than just the physical practice; it’s about the experience.

With the global wellness economy now valued at approximately $6.3 trillion (and projected to reach $9 trillion by 2028, according to the Global Wellness Institute), the expectations of yoga practitioners are evolving. The demand for more diverse and thoughtfully designed wellness spaces is growing, and as more studios open their doors, competition is becoming fiercer. Yoga practitioners are looking for more than just a clean, functional space; they want an experience that enhances their practice.

For the MoreYoga redesign, we wanted to create a space that felt fresh and calming, with a soft, inviting colour palette and playful elements that maintain the unique, independent feel of MoreYoga. They are not a corporate giant; they are a family-run business with a mission to make yoga more accessible to everyone. Whether you view yoga as a spiritual practice or simply as a way to stay fit, we wanted the design to reflect the community that thrives within it.

Sustainability was a core part of the brief and one we know is central to your work, tell us more about how you brought this into the studios?

Sustainability was a key focus throughout the design process. Thinking about the future generations and how we can help to heal our planet is one of our top priorities. We incorporated recycled materials—such as coffee grounds, fruit stones, and recycled plastics—into surfaces, ensuring that our design choices had minimal environmental impact. We also rethought the customer journey, considering every aspect of the studio’s flow, from arrival to picking up equipment and refilling water bottles with the new filtered water taps. We wanted to make the whole experience seamless, so you can focus solely on your practice.

I am also incredibly proud that MoreYoga supports the wonderful charity, War Child. As a parent and someone who is deeply compassionate, I’m heartbroken by the ongoing tragedies in Gaza and other conflict zones. I’ve been actively supporting Palestine in any way I can, and I hope to continue supporting War Child’s efforts to help children affected by war alongside MoreYoga.

Children are the future, and if we cannot provide them with a peaceful childhood, we risk losing the hope for a better tomorrow. Now, more than ever, community, kindness, and respect must be at the heart of everything we do. By fostering these values, we can help humanity thrive.
