Wishing you a joyful and peaceful December, dear ones. As we prepare to wrap up 2025, the skies bring moments of reflection, celebration, and soul-stirring potential. The month begins with a bright and communicative Full Moon in Gemini—the final full moon of the year—offering a powerful opportunity to release what no longer serves us. As the nights grow long and the air turns crisp, the Winter Solstice and New Moon in Sagittarius call us to plant visionary seeds for 2026. Whether you’re letting go or dreaming big, this month’s astrology is here to support you in finding clarity, purpose, and joy.
Full Moon in Gemini
December opens with a Full Supermoon in the sign of Gemini, also known as the Cold Moon. The Full Moon will be exact on Thursday 4th Dec 2025 at 23:13 (GMT). Gemini is ruled by Mercury (planet of communication) and this is a good moon for social gatherings.
Astrologically speaking this Full Moon may feel tense as the Moon makes a challenging link to South Node in Virgo (Karma) and North Node in Pisces (Dharma). Or to put it more plainly, we may feel caught between where we have been and where we want to go.
Tension in astrology is always an opportunity for growth. So reflect on what is hampering your progress and resolve to make conscious efforts to overcome the obstacles.
It’s an important date to mark in the calendar because it’s the last Full Moon of 2025 and the final chance to harness the power of the Full Moon to release anything that no longer serves us before we step into 2026.
Yoga for Full Moon in Gemini
It can be beneficial to work with the Throat Chakra through poses such as cat/cow, Lion’s Breath, neck stretches and Sphinx pose and by chanting the mantra “HAM”, it’s also a great time to attend a Kirtan or a social occasion where people gather in song.
Ritual: On the day before the Full Moon (Wednesday = Mercury’s Day) light a blue candle for Mercury. Meditate on the candle and ask Mercury to show you what you need to release. On the day of Full Moon harness the power of your voice in your letting go ritual and name out-loud all the things that you are ready to release from your life.
Winter Solstice & New Moon in Sagittarius
Here in the Northern Hemisphere we find ourselves approaching the Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice is the day of the year with the least hours of sunlight. It’s a day to gather in ceremony and to make plans for the year ahead. This year it falls on Sunday 21st Dec 2025 and sits close to an optimistic and expansive New Moon in Sagittarius which arrives on Saturday 20th Dec (01:43am GMT).
In astrology, Sagittarius is symbolised by a centaur (half human, half horse) who points a bow and arrow. This is an auspicious time to set intentions as Jupiter (planet of luck and expansion) is the ruler of Sagittarius.
However, on the day of the New Moon Saturn (structure and boundaries) and Neptune (imagination and illusion) form a square with the New Moon. Squares are challenging aspects that force us to grow and evolve. So although the New Moon in Sag is traditionally considered a “lucky Moon”, this year, it’s not the kind of luck that will be handed to us on a plate, especially as the ruler of this moon – Jupiter – is currently retrograde. It’s luck that comes through not shying away from hard work (Saturn) and by tapping into our inner vision (Neptune).
Yoga for New Moon in Sagittarius
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter (planet of luck and expansion) so travelling to a different location to practice yoga can be a way of embracing the Sagittarian love of travel and exploration. You don’t have to travel globally. Simply visiting a yoga studio in another area could be a way to embrace the energy of this New Moon.
Sagittarius is the knowledge seeker of the Zodiac so New Moon in Sagittarius is a great time to work with the yogic principle of Svadhyaya which translates to self-study. Learn a new piece of philosophy or visit a bookshop.
RItual: The traditional ruler of Sagittarius is Jupiter and Jupiter is currently in the sign of Cancer so this is a New Moon to set intentions around nurture and around deepening our intuition. This New Moon invites us to reflect on the ways that we cared for ourselves in the past and to notice if anything was lacking. From this place of deeper self knowledge we can set intentions to be better nurturers for ourselves and others. The ritual is a simple one – plant a seed or buy a plant and tend to it with love.
