Hello dear ones,
2026 gallops in, bringing with it sudden change, excitement, and adventure.
In Chinese astrology, the Year of the Fire Horse arrives on 16th February, in tandem with an annular solar eclipse in Aquarius.
The Fire Horse is dynamic, restless, independent, courageous, and ambitious. In yoga, fire is symbolic of transformation, and this year asks us to be bold for change.
The Tarot card for 2026 is The Wheel of Fortune – Card Number 10 of the Major Arcana (2+0+2+6 = 10). This too is a card of change. The Wheel of Fortune promises random strokes of luck and unexpected twists of fate. It reminds us that there are always things beyond our control. This is a year to open your heart to new possibilities and expect the unexpected.
On the mat, it’s a year to consistently work with the element of fire – for courage, self-empowerment, and to build strength in order to be a warrior for peace.
As the Wheel of Fortune is sometimes interpreted as the Wheel of Karma, this can be a year to practice Karma Yoga – “selfless action performed for the benefit of others.”
Planetary Shifts & Their Yogic Alignment
Neptune in Aries – 26th January 2026
When Neptune settles into Aries on 26th January, it kicks off a new 14-year cycle. Neptune is the planet of imagination, illusion, dreams, and confusion. Aries is about leadership, courage, and ambition.
On one side of the spectrum, Neptune in Aries can highlight imposter syndrome that stops us from stepping into our power. On the other side, it can be about delusional leaders emerging.
As Aries is a fire sign, it’s about harnessing the fire element to burn through illusions, see our true power, and fight corruption.
Practice Tips:
Dynamic, sweaty yoga practices with a focus on Manipura and building Agni (fire) in the body will help clear the mind and bring clarity. Eat spicy food. Burn red candles. Practice Breath of Fire.
Saturn in Aries – 14th February 2026
Shortly after Neptune enters Aries, on 14th Feb 2026 (00:12 GMT) Saturn (the planet of structure, boundaries and life lessons) also re-enters Aries. Until April 2028 we are collectively learning the lessons of Aries (you will feel it more acutely if you happen to have been born when Saturn was in Aries). Aries is ruled by Mars (the planet of drive and ambition) and it is associated with ego, leadership and identity. Saturn in Aries is a bootcamp for self-empowerment but it is also a place where we may find ourselves being humbled if we get too big for our boots.
Relevant Yogic Practices:
- Tapas – which translates to “fiery discipline” because commitment, intention and strength are required to navigate Saturn in Aries.
- Ishvara Pranidhana – Surrender to a higher power or surrender to your higher self. Saturn Aries counsels about the dangers of being led by our ego. Instead invites instead to get to know our own unique gifts, trust that we are divinely guided and to work in alignment with our highest path.
Uranus in Gemini – 25th April 2026
Uranus is sometimes known as the planet of rebellion and surprises, sometimes known as the Great Awakener either way, whichever sign Uranus transits we can expect seismic shifts relating to the themes of that planet. Gemini is ruled by Mercury (planet of communication) so Uranus in Gemini may bring even more sudden advancements with tech. Uranus will be in Gemini until 2033 so this means that we can expect major technological advances over the next seven years.
Yoga Tips:
To work with Uranus in Gemini on the mat, work with Vishuddhi (throat chakra) by doing neck stretches and by practicing bee breath. You can also work with the crown of the head, through inversions and meditations. Working with Uranus in Gemini symbolically means opening ourselves up to new and unexpected ideas.
Chiron Enters Taurus – 19th June 2026
Chiron will enter Taurus on 19th June 2026 and although it will retrograde back into Aries (17th Sept 2026 – 14th April 2027) this heralds the start of a new seven-year cycle. Chiron is known as the wounded healer as Rumi once said, “the wound is where the light enters you” this also means that our healing gifts can often develop through our own suffering – or that in trying to find ways to heal ourselves we find ways to help others. Chiron in Taurus can relate to a collective story around healing our physical bodies, it can also translate to fears relating to money, wealth and stability. To work with Chiron in Taurus we must acknowledge our wounds and our fears.
Yoga Tips:
On the yoga mat, this is real Muladhara (root chakra) work. Deep squats and slow grounding practices can help us to navigate through Chiron in Taurus.
Philosophically speaking, working with Chiron in Taurus means integrating the yogic principal of Aparigraha (it translates to non-possessiveness, non-greed and non-attachment) this is because Chiron in Taurus will show us how clinging to material things can cause suffering.
Jupiter in Leo – 30th June 2026
Jupiter is the planet of luck and Leo’s themes are creativity and joy – so when Jupiter moves through the sign of Leo we may feel a boost of optimism. Jupiter will be in Leo from 30th June 2026 to 26th July 2027.
To make the most of Jupiter in Leo it can be helpful to set intentions and to work with yogic principle of Santosha (From Yogapedia It denotes contentment and a lack of desire for what others have. The term is derived from the Sanskrit sam, meaning “completely” or “altogether,” and tosha, meaning “contentment” or “acceptance.” Altogether, it may be translated as “complete contentment.”)
Yoga Tips:
On the mat, try any pose that provides a sense of expansion. Leo governs the heart, spine and back so back bends and heart openers serve as an embodied metaphor for Jupiter in Leo themes.
The Nodal Shift – 26th July 2026
The Nodes of the Moon are sometimes called the Nodes of Destiny. When they shift signs, it signifies a change in collective focus. The North Node will move into Aquarius and the South Node will move into Leo. When we have a Nodal shift we are trying to find the middle ground between two polarities – in this case its Aquarius (collective consciousness) vs Leo (individual consciousness).
Theme:
To work with this energy, it can be helpful to work within a group and learn to cooperate but also to find the opposite of that which is to step into leadership roles and to take centre stage. The Nodal Shift seeks to correct anything that is off balance so it may look at taking despots out of power. With Pluto in Aquarius and Jupiter in Leo we can expect revolutions on a global scale.
Chiron Re-enters Aries – 17th Sept 2026
This is Chiron’s final journey through Aries in this particular cycle. It’s a time to review what you have learned in relation to self-confidence, self-worth and personal power.
Venus Retrograde in Scorpio & Libra – 3rd Oct to 13th Nov 2026
A time of reflection and nostalgia and also a time when weird and unusual trends can pop up. Practice slow meditative practices. Try something different in your yoga practice.
