Antique hand-coloured star chart of the Scorpio constellation showing a scorpion

Scorpio Season

Scorpio is a Water sign, it’s ruled by Pluto in Modern astrology and Mars in Traditional astrology. Pluto is symbolic of deep psychological analysis, shadow work and The Unknown. Mars is the god of war and in astrology he symbolises drive and ambition.

Scorpio season brings with it a touch of intensity and it always coincides with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (31st Oct/1st Nov) which marks the end of summer and beginning of winter in the northern hemisphere. It’s also said to be a time when we have a clearer connection to those who have passed over so it is a time for ancestral work and ritual.

This Scorpio season both Venus and Mercury are retrograde, making this a time of profound inward journeying. It is not a time to rush. It’s a time to meet ourselves on a deeper level.

Jupiter (luck and expansion) and Mars (drive and ambition) meet in the sign of Leo. When this energy is consciously channelled we can achieve great things. When this energy is unconscious it can cause conflict. So be as conscious as you can be of your ambitions and objectives during Scorpio Season.

Yoga for Scorpio Season

The energy of Scorpio season invites us to move slowly and intentionally. It challenges us to encounter poses from new perspectives. Self-knowledge is the objective – to turn inward, tune in and to listen.

Scorpio is predominantly associated with the Sacral Chakra (Svadisthana) and the Solar Plexus (Manipura) – this puts in the focus on hip openers and twists. With introspection at the heart of this Scorpio season, long holds and dim lights will facilitate a deeper dialogue with Scorpio themes.

The meeting of Mars and Jupiter is energetic and dynamic practices are highlighted but the focus is on steadiness, focus, mastery and intention rather than brute force.

Full Moon in Taurus (Monday 26th October 2026 04:11am)

On the day of the Full Moon, the Sun in Scorpio and the Moon in Taurus are both making a challenging aspect to Pluto (planet of transformation). Work is required of us and we might be forced to change during a moment when we are craving stability and comfort. With both Mercury and Venus retrograde there is a possibility that we might wallow in nostalgia or struggle to move forwards. Rather than working against this energy, work with it.

We can lean into the retrogrades by allowing ourselves ample time to reflect. In dynamic practices, look for opportunities to hold the poses a little bit longer. In restorative practices deep twists held for long periods can serve as an embodied metaphor for embracing the change that this Full Moon will undoubtedly bring.

Ritual: Buy yourself a bunch of beautiful flowers. Around the time of the Full Moon write down what you would like to release on a piece of paper. When the flowers die, tear up the piece of paper and bury it in the earth with some of the petals from the flowers.

New Moon in Scorpio (Monday 9th Nov 2026 07:01am)

This New Moon is ruled by Mars (the planet of drive and ambition) and Mars sits with Jupiter (the planet of luck and expansion) in the sign of Leo. This means that this is a New Moon where we are being called upon to take conscious action. It is a potent Moon for manifesting as Jupiter will assist us if we direct our energy intentionally. The only challenge we may encounter is that with Mercury and Venus both retrograde, we might be too embroiled in the past to focus on the future. The best way to harness the energy of the New Moon is to allow time for reflection but to use that reflection to create a plan for the future.

On the mat it can be beneficial to work with the Solar Plexus as it aligns with Mars energy. The objective is to move forwards and progress rather than getting stuck in retrograde energy. Try strengthening poses such as Plank (Dandasana) and Dolphin (Ardha Pincha). Chant the mantra RAM. In Warrior 2 set the Drishti (gaze point) firmly over the front middle finger. It’s symbolic of directing your energy towards alignment with your highest path in life. You’re looking forward because that’s where you want to go.

Ritual: Mars is the planet of action so make a list of five actions you can take over the next six months to align with your highest path in life. If we can harness and direct Mars energy we can make monumental achievements.

Scorpio

October 24 – November 21↑ All signs

Work is at the forefront of your mind and you have your foot on the accelerator as Mars (drive and ambition) and Jupiter meet in your 10th house (Career) around the time of the New Moon in Scorpio (9th Nov).

If you want a promotion, a raise or more recognition now is the time to be clear about your intentions and desires. Mars will station retrograde in January so your ambitions may be subject to delays and minor setbacks but if you lay the groundwork now you should find yourself in a much more comfortable position come April 2027.

The Full Moon (26th Oct) might ask you to set a difficult boundary with a partner or close friend. It’s important to note their past behaviour and protect yourself accordingly.

Try to lean into change on the home front rather than pushing against. Furiously guard your down time as it might be difficult to find enough of it at this time.

On the mat opt for poses that build strength and confidence. Challenge yourself with balances and inversions as they will serve as an embodied metaphor for harnessing Mars energy. Don’t be afraid to wobble and remember to keep picking yourself back up when you falter.

Herbal Astrology Card
Hibiscus = Joy. The planetary symbols are Pluto and Venus. Allow love to transform your world.
♐︎

Sagittarius

November 22 – December 21↑ All signs

Be prepared for disruptions, as the Full Moon in Taurus (26th October) happens in your 6th house (daily routines and habits). This Full Moon is tense and will force you to make changes. The good news is that Jupiter (luck and expansion) rules your chart and because Jupiter is in Leo, these shifts to your daily routine may bring with them the opportunities to travel and learn. If you are dreaming of adventure, then harness the power of the New Moon in Scorpio (9th Nov) when the cosmos is offering you a moment to make a wish. Reflect on the past to help you to get clear about the future.

Work with Dancer’s Pose (Natrajasana) to keep the heart open to new opportunities and to find stability in times of flux. Chant the mantra LAM to connect to the root chakra and call in stability during the Full Moon in Taurus.

Herbal Astrology Card
Blue Lotus = Intuition. The planetary symbols are Sun and Moon. A New Moon is when the Sun and Moon meet in the same sign. The New Moon in Scorpio (9th Nov) happens in your 12th house (house of spirituality). Your intuition will be heightened on that day. Meditate to make the most of this energy.
♑︎

Capricorn

December 22 – January 19↑ All signs

You may have reached a point when you are no longer satisfied by your creative endeavours and when you need to reassess what exactly it is that brings you joy and fulfilment. You might feel bored or frustrated – notice when the feeling comes up and consider how you can shake things up to bring more of a sense of childlike wonder into your life. Your need for change can be quite exhausting and relentless at this time so pinpoint what exactly is motivating you to switch things up.

By the New Moon in Scorpio (9th Nov) you might start to get clear on what it is that’s missing. You can call in a supportive community to help you realise your highest intentions.

In yoga there is a concept called Santosha. It’s about finding contentment and joy in the present moment. You might find that something that once brought you joy no longer thrills you. So your challenge for Scorpio season is to seek out Santosha. On the mat, this means finding practices that are playful and uplifting.

Herbal Astrology Card
Kava Kava = Community. Planetary symbols are Moon and Pluto. Connect to your intuition in order to evolve and call on your friends to support self-development.
♒︎

Aquarius

January 20 – February 18↑ All signs

The Full Moon (26th Oct) happens in your 4th house (home and family) and it nudges you to make some necessary changes that will allow you to express more of your authentic self in the long run.

There could be a situation where you are censoring yourself in order to placate elders. If you are confident enough to stand your power, this will lead to positive shifts on the work front come the New Moon in Scorpio (9th Nov). Pay extra attention to emails and communications at work as Mercury Retrograde is in the mix with the New Moon causing delays and misunderstandings. This will only be a problem if you neglect to do your due diligence. With your traditional ruler Saturn (structure and boundaries) transiting your third house you must be sure to re-read everything and check the details.

Work with both the Root chakra and the Throat chakra to build stability and clarity. Sit in a deep yogi squat and chant the mantra HAM. Hold Fish Pose on a bolster for up to ten minutes.

Herbal Astrology Card
Arnica = Teacher. The planetary symbol is Saturn. Hard work will be rewarded.
♓︎

Pisces

February 19 – March 20↑ All signs

In traditional astrology Jupiter rules Pisces and throughout Scorpio Season, Jupiter moves through your 6th house (daily routines and habits) and it links to Mars (planet of drive and ambition) this means that you should find yourself being intensely focused and disciplined. Try to keep this momentum going, at least until the New Moon in Scorpio (9th Nov), as it is an excellent time to set intentions around education and travel.

With Venus retrograde in the sign of Libra you will be on a quest to understand your past relationships on a much deeper level and you may surprise yourself by yearning for people or places that you thought you had moved on from. Allow yourself to work through those feelings as they are temporary and by working through the past you may deepen your current connections.

With Mars and Jupiter in your 6th House it’s a time of discipline and high energy. Regular efforts will provide effective results. Attend a regular class and find a practice that makes you sweat.

Herbal Astrology Card
Cordyceps = Revival. The Planetary symbols are Mars, Jupiter and Pluto. This is pertinent as there is an opposition between Mars and Jupiter in Leo and Pluto in Aquarius. Consistent effort leads to monumental evolution and rebirth.
♈︎

Aries

March 21 – April 19↑ All signs

This Scorpio Season asks you to take stock of your financial situation and to consider if there is anything specific that is hampering your economic growth. Opportunities to create more wealth come through creativity and play rather than hard labour, particularly around the Full Moon in Taurus (Oct 26th).

With Venus retrograde in your 7th house (one to one relationships) you may find yourself reflecting deeply on past love. As Saturn is moving through the opposite sign of Aries there is a strong possibility that you will need to set a boundary with someone from the past.

Stability through change and introspection are highlighted this month. You can work with these themes on the mat by practicing twisted balances such as Revolved Half Moon (Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana) and Revolved Hand to Toe Pose (Parivrtta Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana).

Herbal Astrology Card
Elder = Wisdom. Planetary symbols Jupiter and Pluto. As Jupiter is in Leo and Pluto is in Aquarius you can gain wisdom by letting the groups you participate in show you how to become a better leader.
♉︎

Taurus

April 20 – May 20↑ All signs

This Scorpio Season invites you to contemplate how you can nurture your independence whilst also deepening your closest relationships. You want to have deep chats with your nearest and dearest. No subject is taboo because Mercury retrograde in Scorpio is moving through your 7th house (one to one relationships).

Home life could be hectic at this time as Mars (drive and ambition) and Jupiter (expansion) are meeting in your 4th house (home and family). This is very dynamic energy. When this energy is unconscious it can bring clashes and arguments but when you work with it intentionally you can achieve a lot. So channel it into DIY projects and getting things done around the house.

On the yoga mat, work with poses that challenge your sense of stability for example arm balances and inversions. Particularly around the Full Moon in Taurus (26th Oct) when Pluto makes a challenging link to the Sun in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus. Embrace the wobbles on the mat and it becomes easier to embrace them off the mat as well. Dynamic practices will help to channel energy to support you with working with the combined energy of Mars and Jupiter.

Herbal Astrology Card
Ashwaganda = Purpose. Symbols Sun and North Node. Be conscious of where you want to go and what you want to achieve. You will get there.
♊︎

Gemini

May 21 – June 21↑ All signs

Art and creativity are highlighted during Scorpio Season and it is a time when you will derive a lot of pleasure from visiting an art gallery, reacquainting yourself with an old film or listening to a classic album.

Around the New Moon (9th Nov) you are being called upon to revise your daily timetable. Pay extra attention to your schedule as Mercury Retrograde is moving through your 6th house (daily routines and habits) and has the potential to cause chaos if you take your eye off the ball for too long.

You might find yourself communicating very directly at this time so pause and modulate your responses.

On the mat, take your time and move slowly and intentionally. Your ruling planet (Mercury) is retrograde so you may feel slightly off centre. Try Slow Flow and Hatha and when you breathe focus on the pause at the top of the inhale and the pause at the bottom the exhale. These sweet pauses between the breaths will give you the clarity you need to move gracefully through the retrograde.

Herbal Astrology Card
Horsetail = Patience. Planetary symbols Saturn and Venus. Don’t expect fast results. A labour of love takes time.
♋︎

Cancer

June 22 – July 22↑ All signs

With Venus Retrograde moving through your 4th house (home and family) you are nostalgic about childhood and it can be comforting to get out the family album or to pore over some old letters and emails. The Full Moon in Taurus (26th Oct) brings pressure to evolve your collaborations and friendships. You might find yourself outgrowing a group.

With Mars and Jupiter meeting in your 2nd house (wealth) you feel driven to tackle financial matters. Try not to get embroiled in fights about money.

At work success comes through discipline and consistent effort. Don’t give up, you will be rewarded but it may be a little further down the line.

Your yoga practice can be a place to work with the idea that consistent effort yields results, so pick one pose that you will work with for the next six months. Journal how you feel about the pose now and then do it again in six months time and see how you have progressed (and remember progress isn’t always physical).

Herbal Astrology Card
Rosemary = Ancient memory. Symbols are Sun and Mercury. You are connected to ancestral wisdom. Tune into and allow yourself to be guided into alignment with your highest path.
♌︎

Leo

July 23 – August 22↑ All signs

With Mars and Jupiter transiting your 1st house (identity) you want to be noticed and you may find yourself doing things to draw more attention to yourself. If you are conscious of this energy you can use it to amplify your allure but if you move through it unconsciously, you could come across as arrogant and bolshy.

When Mars moves through the 1st house there is a potential for injury so move intentionally. The Full Moon in Taurus (Oct 26th) brings tension between work and home life. In order to move through the tension you must be clear about what is no longer serving you in both spheres. Take time to write down what you want to let go of and once you have done that, tear up the piece of paper and be sure to dispose of it or burn it (safely).

On the yoga mat you will be craving dynamic practices but try to slow things down and work with stability and strength rather than speed and agility. Long holds in Warrior 2 and plank will serve you well at this time.

Herbal Astrology Card
Echinacea = Destiny. The planetary symbols are Pluto and Jupiter. Self-development comes when you take time to see yourself through the eyes of the people who love you most.
♍︎

Virgo

August 23 – September 22↑ All signs

Mercury retrograde in Scorpio could be interfering with your ability to stay clear and fluent. It is time to double check your communications. The Full Moon in Taurus (Oct 26th) will have you craving travel and adventure but if you are booking trips then make sure you read all your emails and check the itinerary thoroughly. On the work front, you may enjoy a positive unexpected change to your routine.

During Scorpio Season you can derive pleasure from material comforts but it’s not a time to make a big investment. Rather go for small treats that give you a warm connection to the past.

Pay attention to your dreams at this time as they may hold big clues about changes you will want to implement around April 2027. You are not ready to act yet.

If you want to maintain your signature clarity even during Mercury Retrograde then work with the Throat chakra. Humming and chanting can be helpful. Opt for practices that take you into a deep meditative state as they will help to clear the mind and support you and in understanding your subconscious desires.

Herbal Astrology Card
Comfrey = Completion. The planetary symbol is Saturn. A reward for hard work is on its way to you.
♎︎

Libra

September 23 – October 23↑ All signs

With Venus Retrograde moving through your 1st house (identity) you may bring back an old hair cut or look. It’s a time to experiment with unusual expressions of beauty. The Full Moon in Taurus is happening in your 8th house (transformation) and you might feel forced to make changes that feel uncomfortable. Trust that these forced changes are making way for more financial stability in the long run. It can be helpful to hold your vision for the future and maybe even create a vision board.

With your traditional ruler Saturn (structure and boundaries) taking a journey through your 7th house (one to one relationships) you may be looking to create more long lasting stability with your partner or you could also be working on better boundaries.

As Venus rules your chart and Venus is retrograde in your sign for most of Scorpio Season it can be helpful to turn inwards. Try a restorative Child’s Pose (balasana) with your heart supported on a bolster or spend some time in Downward Facing Savasana.

Herbal Astrology Card
Dandelion = Wounded Healer. The symbols are Chiron and Jupiter. When you support others who now face the same challenges you have faced in the past, you deepen your own sense of purpose and wellbeing.
