Hello dear ones!
It’s the Yogastrology for March. This is an energetically intense month so lean on your yoga practice and remember to breathe!

Venus Retrogrades Through Aries and Pisces
The month kicks off with Venus, the planet of beauty and love, stationing retrograde in the sign of Aries. When Venus is in retrograde motion it’s a time of deep nostalgia and a time when memories and people from the past can re-emerge. If you’re single, it’s time to delete your dating apps and focus on self-love and if you’re in a relationship, it’s a good time to reflect and realign.

You can work with Venus retrograde in your yoga practice through inversions and poses that inspire introspection. Restorative heart openers such as fish pose with a bolster under the torso will support you through this period. By supporting the heart, you’re giving space for old energy to release in order to make space for new opportunities and even deeper connections when Venus stations direct on April 12th in Pisces.

Mercury Enters Aries
On 3rd March Mercury, the planet of communication, enters the Mars ruled sign of Aries. As Mars is both the God of War and the planet of drive and ambition, it’s a time to think before you speak. This transit can help you to say what you need to say to get the job done but there’s a danger of saying it too brusquely or too quickly. Harness the higher polarities of this energy by working with your throat chakra. Neck stretches can be a great way to balance the throat chakra. This will also prepare you for the incoming Mercury Retrograde (more on that later.)

Full Moon in Virgo and Eclipse Alert!
On 14th March we have a Full Moon in Virgo and a Lunar Eclipse. Eclipses are very significant astrological occurrences as they bring us revelations and shake us out of patterns, routine, habits or situations that no longer serve us. Eclipses can feel uncomfortable because they are pushing us towards much needed growth, whether we are ready for that growth or not. Whilst Full Moon is usually a time for ritual – eclipses are a time to rest, surrender and connect to intuition. Virgo is an earth sign so it can be a great moment to practice in nature. It’s also a good time for a deep and nourishing yin practice with an Earth element focus.

Mercury Retrograde in Aries
One of the most well-known and dreaded events in the astrological calendar – Mercury retrograde – arrives on March 15th but Mercury retrograde will only cause you problems if it catches you unawares. Mercury retrograde famously causes delays and frustrations but you can come out relatively unscathed if you do your due diligence. If you don’t want this transit to mess with your yoga practice give yourself a bit more time than you usually would to get to class.

If things still don’t go to plan remember you can always use your breath to support you.

Inhale to find: Strength, courage and intention
Exhale to find: Trust, calm and surrender

Sun Enters Aries
On 20th March the Sun enters Aries giving us a burst of energy and vitality. The Pagan festival Ostara coincides with Aries season in the Northern Hemisphere and this is when we embrace the advent of spring. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac so this is the astrological new year. This is a great time to vision board and realign with the intentions you set at the start of the year. It’s time for energetic and optimistic yoga with plenty of twist and a little bit of challenge.

Solar eclipse Aries and Neptune enters Aries
The month ends with two major astrological events. On 29th March we have Solar Eclipse in Aries. Once again this is not a time for a ritual, this is a time for meditation and quiet, calm, introspective yoga practices. As Aries is the sign that is associated with identity, this is a time when we will have sudden revelations relating to who we are and how we want to live our lives. This is the final eclipse in a series of eclipses, so look back as far back as 20th April 2023. What major themes were showing up for you around that time? Was anything new revealed to you? Consider the ways in which your life has changed since then, maybe taking a note of any major events that kicked off around that time. A new chapter is beginning.

On March 30th Neptune enters Aries. This is huge news as Neptune only changes signs approximately every 14 years and the last time Neptune entered Aries was in 1861! This transit connects our intuitive world (Neptune) with the element of fire and the spark of creation (Aries). Neptune in Aries can give us the intuition we need to birth new ideas. Kapalbhati is sometimes called “Skull Shining Breath” and it can be a great breathwork to honour Neptune in Aries because it’s a dynamic breathwork that helps to clear the mind and open us up to deeper intuition. If you don’t already use this pranayama in your practice, this is a great time to develop it. Afterall, it will be relevant for the next 14 years.

Wishing you a beautiful month of March,
From MoreYoga, Amanda and The Good Ghosts

About Amanda Barokh

Amanda Barokh has been studying tarot and astrology since childhood and practicing yoga since 2007 but it was a spiritual awakening in 2013 that started a chain of events which lead her to pursue spiritual work as a vocation and calling. In 2019 she did her yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India. She has also studied mediumship and is constantly developing her intuitive skills.
She loves weaving links between tarot, astrology and yoga and she believes that working with the three in tandem has powerful healing properties.
