Hello dear Yogis,

Happy New Moon in Cancer. Cancer is a Water sign and water relates to the realm of emotions.  It’s symbolised by the Crab who carries their home on their back. The crab is symbolic of Cancer’s drive to protect and nourish and it also alludes to Cancer’s introspective tendencies.

New Moon in Cancer

14th July (10:43 BST)

New Moons are always about planting seeds and new beginnings but this New Moon, Mercury (planet of communication) sits with the New Moon forcing us into a state of stillness and introspection. Mercury Retrograde in Cancer can be sentimental and nostalgic, embrace this energy but don’t wallow in it. Use Mercury Retrograde to help learn from the past but stay committed to forging forwards in alignment with your highest path.

Yoga for New Moon

The energy of this New Moon is reflective, so find ways to destress and unwind. Inversions can be helpful at this time as they help to see things from a new perspective. Try Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) with a bolster under the head, a Head Stand (Sirasana) or Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani).

Ritual

Bake a cake or some biscuits, each time you add a new ingredient make a wish. If you can’t do this, light a scented candle and make a wish as you light it.

YOUR NEW MOON IN CANCER YOGASCOPES

Cancer (June 22 – July 22)

As you step on to your mat this New Moon in Cancer,  you step on to it as a more embodied, empowered and authentic version of yourself. You are sitting in your power and you are more at ease with yourself.

This is because Jupiter (planet of luck and expansion) was in Cancer from  9th June 2025 and it departed Cancer on 30th June 2026. You’ve been on a year-long journey that has taught you how to lead from the heart. Reflect on this period and take a moment to notice which areas of your life feel more aligned since Jupiter entered your sign.

Around this New Moon The Sun is at its peak (in the Northern Hemisphere), so praise it, connect to it and absorb its rays.

Practice Sun Salutations (Suriya Namaskar) and tap into the Solar Plexus (Manipura Chakra) by wearing the colour yellow and chanting the mantra ‘RAM’.

Whilst you are gaining in confidence, you may still feel like even more of a homebody than usual, as Mercury Retrograde now moves through your sign – enjoy  time spent nestled in your crab-shell.

Practice a supported version of Snail Pose (Karnipadasana) or retreat into sensory withdrawal (Pratyahara) with Shanmukhi Mudra and Bhramari Breath (cover your eyelid with index finger and middle finger, thumbs in ears, index over top lip, little finger under bottom lip and hum).

Work with poses that support the heart, for instance, a Yin Melting Heart Pose with a bolster. The New Moon (16th July) in your Cancer is a moment to slow down and reflect so that you can move forwards with greater clarity.

Moonology Message: Mystery – You have free will. See your glass as half full.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

Leo is already the most fabulous and flamboyant energetic signature in the zodiac. This New Moon in Cancer invites you to become even more of everything that makes you that little bit extra.   Jupiter (planet of luck and expansion) entered your sign on 30th June and it will travel through Leo until 26th July 2027 amplifying all of your already OTT attributes. The effects of Jupiter might take a moment to kick in but rest assured that the big guy (Jupiter) is working hard to help you reach peak Leo. This is a time to perform, dress up, give a talk or generally step into the spotlight.

Work with poses that help you to feel strong and confident, connect to joy – try Laughter Yoga, find the channel of energy between your Solar Plexus and your Heart Chakra through versions of Wheel Pose (Dhanuransana) and Camel Pose (Ustrasana). The Sun is your ruling planet so salute it on the yoga mat and bask in it whenever you can.

The New Moon (14th July) requires you to rest and pause so find a Yin or Restorative class to help you unwind and reflect.

Moonology Message: New Beginnings – Chase your dreams. Ask your higher self for guidance.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

This New Moon in Cancer your friends are here to hold you up, boost your confidence and help you to reminisce. There is a nostalgia for childhood and a desire to indulge in simple pleasures. Give yourself permission to play.

When you roll out your yoga mat, think about moving for the sake of fun – embrace playful sequences and let your practice be lighthearted and freeing. The yogic principle of Santosha is your project for this Cancer Season – it translates to “contentment, satisfaction and gratitude” so indulge in the poses you really love.

Use the New Moon on (14th July) to meditate on the theme of community and to call in a supportive network.

Moonology Message: Love – It’s time to start seeing life’s magic. Life is what you make it.

Libra (September 23 – October 23)

You are reflecting on what home means to you and you are keen to build firmer foundations.

The New Moon (14th July) puts the spotlight on your career and asks you to review all you have achieved since Jupiter (planet of luck and expansion) entered Cancer on 9th June 2025. You have a lot to be proud of and it’s important to take a moment to acknowledge your impressive achievements.

New Moon in Cancer asks you to arrive on your mat with a sense of purpose – a mantra, an intention, a Sankalpa (heartfelt desire). Career-wise you are in a strong place, so use it to make a positive impact on the world. Opt for practices that imbue you with a feeling of strength and clarity.

Saturn (planet of structure and boundaries) is exerting extra pressure at this time. Don’t let it overwhelm you, instead pay attention to what is coming up. It’s pushing you to reach your full potential.

Moonology Message: Transformation – You can do this – dig deeper. You’ve got the power!

Scorpio (October 24 – November 21)

New Moon in Cancer brings with it a yearning to visit old childhood haunts and to travel to faraway lands that feel both remote and familiar. It may not be possible to get away at this time but you can plant seeds and do the preparatory work. You will need some flights of fancy to sustain when the day to day feels demanding and repetitive as you are currently in a two year period of your life which requires daily discipline.

Committing to a regular yoga practice will yield results and bring health benefits, so keep showing up and try to make it fun. Boat Pose (Navasaana), Plank and lifts that use body weight can all be helpful practices. The New Moon also invites you to connect to your Third Eye through meditation and poses such as Rabbit (Sasangasana) and Child’s Pose (Balasana).

Moonology Message: Accept Responsibility – It’s time to reflect. Solutions are nearby.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Money is on your mind and you are thinking about how to accrue it, earn it and multiply it. You may be reaching the end of a financial commitment and a period of financial anxiety may be coming to an end.

True to the exploratory nature of the archer (the symbol for Sagittarius) this puts you in the mood to start booking flights, as your ruling planet Jupiter (luck and expansion) has just moved into your 9th house (long distance travel). Just remember to pause and double check the details before you hit that “book” button as Mercury (planet of communication) is retrograde and this can cause delays and confusion.

Make exploration and expansion the cornerstones of your practice by using a strap to find space and new sensations. Remember to also go inwards and reflect with restorative poses such as Reclined Bound Angle (Supta Buddha Konansana) and Downward Facing Shavasana.

Moonology Message: Protection – You are safe. The divine is on your side.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Gemini Season is a spiritual and imaginative time for you and you are looking to deepen your one to one connections and to really allow yourself to be seen by close friends and partners. If you don’t have a partner, it’s a good time to call one in. As well as the emotional work, there is practical work to do and the New Moon (15th June) is a time to revise your daily routines and habits as there may be some unexpected shake ups. By creating order at home, you will be able to move through routine changes with patience and grace.

On the Mat: Make a sustained commitment to finding stability on the mat. Work with poses that make you feel steady and grounded. Meditation is crucial, especially around the time of the Full Moon. Reassess your practice schedule and reinvigorate your routine by trying on classes and new poses. Pick one pose that you would like to work towards or to deepen your relationship with.

Herbal Astrology: Ayahuasca = Rebirth: Great revelation, discovery of higher self. Remember dear one, that to heal the world, you must heal yourself. You are the source of love.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Be prepared for upheavals this month, particularly around the New Moon (14th July). When planning routines, allow some leeway and flexibility and be open to unexpected changes. You can lean into this energy on the yoga mat by trying new variations on old poses.

You are entering a year long period when love is on your mind and you may be deepening existing partnerships. You want intensity from your one to one relationships and you need your nearest and dearest to help you to really understand yourself.

It’s a great time for Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga and Yin. On the New Moon work with balancing poses and transitions  as it can serve as an embodied way to work with the unstable energy you may be dealing with.

Moonology Message: Go for It! – Don’t give up. Aim high.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

You may have spent the past year exploring your creativity and renewing your connection to joy. Cancer New Moon invites you to reflect on what you have learned. There is a window of time when a new creative project can be birthed, this is around the time of the New Moon in Cancer (14th July), the energy is potent so be clear about what you want.

Greater financial stability comes as the result of hard work but it is an ongoing two year project so keep the vision clear and move steadily and with intention.

Work with the Third Eye (Ajna) to stimulate and support your intuition but make sure you are also grounding deeply as there may be an unsteady feeling at quite a foundational level. Squats, Seated Forward Folds and Child’s Pose can all be helpful at this time.

Moonology Message: Do Nothing – There’s nothing to worry about. The time for action has passed.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

You are usually so exuberant and outgoing but the Cancer New Moon is your time to stay home and recharge. This year, it’s compounded by the fact that Mercury Retrograde is also in Cancer and it’s prompting you to turn off notifications, put out the “do not disturb sign” and binge watch a box set.

You are a natural leader and have worked hard over the past six months so give yourself this much needed moment to pause and reflect. You will soon be entering a period of accelerated creativity.

Make your yoga practice a haven of calm – opt for the poses that soothe you. Try a long hold Lizard Pose or a supported Pigeon pose. Turn the lights low and burn your favourite essential oil.

Moonology Message: Meant to Be – Follow your feelings. Created the reality you’re dreaming of.

Taurus: April 20 – May 20

Even though Uranus (the Great Awakener) has left your sign, the planets are not done overhauling your life on a material level. Taurus is known for loving comfort and security but you are being reminded that comfort can lead to stagnancy so keep your heart and mind open to changes.

Just before the start of Cancer Season, Chiron (the Wounded Healer) entered Taurus and it is gearing up for an extended stay, what this means is that you may be feeling more vulnerable. Chiron shows us how to use our past pain to be a beacon of light and to help others who may be experiencing similar issues. Whenever we speak of Chiron I think of the famous Rumi quote “The wound is where the light enters you.”

Your Yoga mat can be a place where you explore healing modalities such as Somatic movement, Breathwork and Guided Meditation. Combining grounding work with flexibility work as an embodied metaphor for staying stable yet open to change.

Moonology Message: Watch for Signs – Open your eyes. Listen to your intuition

Gemini (May 21 – June 21)

You want to usher in more stability and wealth from the New Moon in Cancer but to do that, it is necessary to understand yourself and your subconscious motivations and also to take stock of all your current financial commitments.

With Uranus in Gemini you are now in a seven year period where you will continuously surprise and excite people just by being more of your authentic self.

The Yoga mat can be a place to really get to know yourself by noticing how you respond to the different stages of a yoga practice. Are you calm, confident or critical? The insights you gain on the mat will stand you in good stead for the work you need to do off the mat this month. Try a Mindful Flow, Yin Yoga or Restorative.

Moonology Message: Take the Lead – You’ve got this. You’re wiser than you know.
