As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries marks the astrological New Year  a moment of renewal, momentum, and bold intention-setting. Aligned with the energy of the Spring Equinox, this is your invitation to begin again. To move forward. To go for it.

This season carries powerful contrasts: fire and focus, ambition and reflection. With a potent Full Moon in Libra asking us to rebalance our relationships, and a rare New Moon in Aries urging us to step into leadership and purpose, we’re being called to both soften and step up.

On and off the mat, this is about courage. About clarity. About choosing what truly matters — and moving towards it with intention.

So… what are you ready to begin?

Aries is associated with the element of Fire, it’s the first sign of the zodiac and it’s the astrological New Year! The start of Aries Season corresponds with the Spring Equinox – a rebirth. This is a time to set intentions, gather in ceremony and celebrate the earth reawakening, here in the Northern Hemisphere.

Aries is symbolised by The Ram and is ruled by Mars (planet of drive and ambition). Aries energy is “go for it!” energy.

We enter Aries Season just after the New Moon in Pisces and just as Mercury stations direct. This should offer us some clarity, however, Saturn (structure, boundaries and life lessons) and Neptune (imagination and illusion) are both hanging out in the early degrees of Aries meaning this Aries Season is time to work hard and to pay attention.

Full Moon in Libra ♎ – Pink Moon 2nd April 2026 (03:11am bst)

The opposite sign to Aries is Libra. In very basic terms, Aries is about the individual self whilst Libra is about the self seen through the eyes of another person. A Full Moon in Libra asks us to reflect on our one to one relationships – this can include romantic partnerships but it’s not exclusively about love, it’s any relationship where another person acts as a mirror. A Full Moon in Libra is a time for us to evaluate our one to one relationships, to look at our patterns and to decide what we need to release. Venus rules Libra so this Full Moon is ruled by Venus (planet of beauty and love). On the day of this Pink Moon, Venus is in its other home sign – Taurus – promising that this Full Moon will have a unique beauty. Take some time to connect with art and nature.

Yoga for Full Moon On the yoga mat, it’s a time for balancing poses, as Libra’s symbol is The Scales – a metaphor for finding harmony and balance within our lives. Libra is an Air sign and in yoga the element of Air is associated with the heart chakra (Anahata). It can be a good time to practice slow and mindful Yoga that centres on the Heart Chakra. Perhaps a Yin class with a focus on the Heart Meridian or a Mandala flow that focuses on the element of Air. The Full Moon in Libra may invite us to reflect on where our lives are out of balance and to work on bringing in more equilibrium.

Ritual: Full Moon in Libra is a time for a rose petal salt bath, so make time for a soak. If you don’t have a bath a shower works too – use a salt scrub and visualises old energy that no longer serves you being washed down the drain. After the bath or shower – write down everything that you want to let go of and then tear up the paper and burn it safely (or if you don’t like burning, flush it down the loo). On the day of the Full Moon, buy yourself a bunch of seasonal flowers – daffodils or hyacinths and light a pink candle.

New Moon in Aries ♈ 17th April (12:51pm bst)

This New Moon in Aries is a sight to behold. There is a gang of six celestial bodies meeting in the sign of Aries. This is a rare and potent alignment of planets. Neptune, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, The Moon and The Sun. Chiron (the wounded healer) is also in the mix, sitting right next to the New Moon. When there is a heavy concentration of energy in one sign, it means we are collectively focused on the themes of this sign. Chiron plays a leading role in this New Moon. Chiron asks us to sit with our pain and asks, what did we learn from our difficult experiences? Chiron tells us there is a gift contained within our suffering and that gift is the ability to help others who might be experiencing the same thing.

Aries is associated with leadership so this Full Moon could be a moment for new leaders to step forward who lead with compassion and are able to alchemise their own personal struggles into a source of power and healing. In fact, this New Moon could be a time to awaken the leader archetype that resides in all of us. This New Moon asks us to move with purpose and clarity. It asks each and every one of us to step up and lead in one area of our lives and to lead with wisdom (chiron) ambition (Mars), purpose (Sun and Moon), discipline (Saturn) and imagination (Neptune).

The ruler of this New Moon is Mars (planet of drive and ambition) and because Mars is next to Mercury (planet of communication) and making a positive link with Pluto (transformation) and Uranus (rebellion and surprises) we can use our voices to fight for what really matters to us.

Yoga for New Moon

Harness the element of Fire in your practice and work with building strength and discipline. This is a time to challenge ourselves but it is also a time to work with compassion for any old injuries. A New Moon in Aries is a time to tap into Manipura (Solar Plexus) Chakra – the energy centre that connects us to power, courage and self-belief. To work with Manipura – wear the colour yellow, light yellow candles and practice strength building poses such as plank and knee to nose – as well as twists such as Ardha Matsyendrasana (Half Lord of the Fishes Pose) Parivrtta Trikonasana (Revolved Triangle Pose), Parivrtta Parsvakonasana (Revolved Side Angle Pose), Parivrtta Anjaneyasana (Revolved Crescent Lunge/Twisting Lunge), Supta Matsyendrasana (Supine/Reclined Spinal Twist). The New Moon in Aries offers you the opportunity to light the spark of a new intention so set a sankalpa (a heartfelt intention) either before asana practice or during Yoga Nidra.

Ritual

Aries ruled by Mars and Mars’s Day is Tuesday – the New Moon falls on a Friday, so on the Tuesday before the New Moon (14th April) take a moment for a ritual. The Moon will be in the Waning Crescent phase so this a beautiful time for energy clearing. Clean your space and cleanse your energetic field. You can clear your energetic field through energy work such as yoga, Qi Gong and Tai Chi, by doing a smoke cleanse or by sprinkling yourself with Agua de Florida. On the day of the New Moon (17th April) write down everything you want to bring in for the next six months and then go to a yoga class and put the folded piece of paper with your intentions under your yoga mat and if you have a citrine crystal you can place that with your intentions too. The good energy from your practice will help to galvanise your intentions.

As always, check your rising sign too if you know it. Sending you Aries Season blessings, Amanda xx

Aries ♈

Hold on to your hat dear Aries, your birthday season is a wild ride. The concentration of energy in your sign is intense and it requires you to step up mentally, emotionally and physically. You are being asked to become the best version of yourself. You are being asked to take everything you’ve learned from your personal struggles and alchemise it in order to step into your power as a leader. There is work to be done, there are intentions to be set. There is an invitation to build something new from the foundations up. Are you strong enough to rise to the challenges? Of course you are!

Use your yoga practice to imbue with discipline, strength and vision. Angi Mudra will help you to work with the element of fire (Fold your ring finger down and bring your thumb to the middle bone of your ring finger. Leave the other fingers up, place the hands on the knees).

Taurus ♉

Taurus, this is your season of love, beauty and sensual pleasure, as Venus moves back into your sign. The Full Moon in Libra is an ode to everything you love and a moment to reflect on what you need to unburden yourself of in order to attract more of the kind of love that nourishes and sustains you. The fiery Aires energy sits at odds with your laidback grounded vibes and you may need time to retreat before coming up with a masterplan.

On the yoga mat work with Venus energy. Venus energy can be found in Anahata (the Heart Chakra). Wear the colour green, light green candles, practice yoga on Venus’s day – Friday. This Aries season asks you to seek spiritual enlightenment through deep meditation and mindful and tender movement.

Take time to work with Anahata (Heart) Chakra in dark and quiet spaces – this will guide you into a dialogue with the wisdom of your own heart. Try a Restorative Fish Pose on a bolster with a lavender scented eye pillow.

If you have been unsure of yourself or struggling to make decisions, know that that time of stagnation is coming to an end. This Aries season, fortune favours the brave – use the New Moon in Aries to focus, create and manifest – you will have Mars (planet of drive and ambition) on your side. You are also being invited to reenergise your daily routines and habits.

This is an energetic and inspired time for you, so favour dynamic practices and try Kapalabhati (Short sharp exhale through the nose, passive inhale). Focus on routine and discipline will yield results so it doesn’t matter how you choose to practice yoga this Aries Season – just keep showing up!

On the mat it’s a time for self discipline and intention. Have a plan for when you are going to practice. Get curious about one aspect of the practice that interests you and delve into that topic. Sign up to a workshop to deepen your knowledge.

Pisces ♓
