SOFTENING INTO WINTER:

Embrace the slow and still qualities of winter with an afternoon of self-care through Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra.
 
In this two-hour workshop, we’ll start with a yin yoga practice – a type of ‘slow yoga’ where each pose is held for 3–5 minutes or more. This means that our muscles and connective tissue have more opportunities to release and send signals to our nervous system to relax so we can soften even further.
 
We’ll finish with Yoga Nidra, a type of guided meditation that may help us to feel deeply relaxed and is the perfect partner to yin yoga.
 
As with all of Rachel’s Yin classes, there will be poetry to provide inspiration and opportunities for reflection.

Spiraling, melting, shifting. This masterclass is for curious creatives, intuitive movers and those that like to colour outside of the lines.

Incorporating movement from a range of vocabularies, including yoga, contemporary dance and capoeira, this will primarily be a mat-less practice where we explore moving into and out of the floor, whilst shifting through space. Exploring movements that travel, listening in to how our body adapts and integrates information, and then creating sequences that move beyond the boundaries of the yoga mat. 

*Limited capacity of 20 people so we have enough space to move!

Join Elis for this Rocket Masterclass that will cover a full Rocket 3 sequence and will be accessible to everyone.

We will open up with a gentle pranayama, following the classic Rocket opening tradition, before warming up with sun salutation and getting into the more dynamic practice.

The class will include playful Rocket transitions and inversions, with explanatory tools for those not yet familiar with them. We’ll take it up, keeping the traditional connection between breath and movement and we’ll then slowly bring it down toward the end. Music will be an important part of the practice and everyone will be invited to focus on the experience and not on the outcome, enjoying the practice on “the flow”, taking what comes on the moment, without expectations from the outcome.

This series is part of our Karma Commitment to giving back with all proceeds going to our Charity of the Year, Choose Love.  

Developed by Larry Schultz, The Rocket system is a playful dynamic vinyasa practice based on Sri Patthabi Jois’ Ashtanga. Slightly faster than other styles, Rocket makes you move, sweat, twist and invert while following a deep steady breath.

Enjoy a calming yin sequence focused on opening your heart then after a short guided focus on the breath, the remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies being introduced in succession. The sounds are created by a variety of overtone-emitting instruments including tuning forks, gongs, Himalayan and crystal singing bowls, chimes, and voice.

When you sink into a Sound Bath and guide your awareness to your listening, you allow your brain waves to slow, shifting from a more active state to a more relaxed state, or even a dreamlike state.

The sounds introduced during a Sound Bath are an invitation into a deeper state of consciousness, an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli and to gain perspective on what’s going on within you. The goal of the experience is to invite deep rest and relaxation and explore self-inquiry and self-discovery.

Yoga is not (just) about the asana, but of course, many of us aspire to more complicated postures, getting upside down and balancing on our head, arms, and hands.

This 2-hr workshop will be an opportunity to break down the mechanics of some of these. If you have never flown as a crow, this might be your chance to take flight! If you are working on transitions between some of the trickier arm balances & inversions, then I can share some helpful hints.

All levels are welcome, an established yoga practice is recommended (but don’t worry if you are coming back after a break).

Yoga is a spiritual practice as well as a wonderful tool to understand the human mind. In the process of connecting to our higher Self, we might run into hindrances or obstacles within us that prevent us from moving forward. Patanjali recorded them in the Yoga Sutras as the 5 Klesas or Obstacles To Enlightenment which we will talk about in this workshop. We will go over their origin and different interpretations, and discuss different ways of noticing them in your practice as well as in your life.

This will be a conversation led by myself humbly introducing my take on the matter, followed by an open level extended vinyasa practice where we will get the chance to practice asana with a more holistic approach and more inclusive of the other aspects of a yoga practice.

Awakening Yoga is the style of Yoga created by Patrick Beach and Carling Harps. It grew out of a desire to create a Yoga practice that meets people where they are. The Awakening Yoga practice is built on the foundation of ritual asana with a focus on functional movement and individualized alignment.

By acknowledging that each body is unique, powerful, and purposeful, this practice provides room for students to better understand their own physicality.

For this workshop, Maria Caballero, certified Awakening Yoga Teacher, will take you through “The Set”, a creative sequencing class that is designed to be offered in a 75 minutes format.

Want to improve your backbends and open up your heart this Valentines?
 
Join Imogen for a 2-hour workshop to put you on the path from vulnerability and confusion in your practice, to a place of confidence and willingness to explore.
If you’re like most of us, backbends can be quite emotionally and physically challenging. They’re the opposite action of our everyday activities such as texting, driving, sitting at computers, and bending to pick up kids.
 
Backbends are so healing partly because they reverse these habitual motions to open up space, energise, and restore balance to our bodies and our lives.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to use and integrate your muscles to keep you safe and strong in backbends. Starting with simple actions, we’ll teach you the important but usually overlooked details on how to access the upper back and how to open the front of the body with care. Then we’ll build on these basics to take you deeper into your backbends with intelligence and awareness, working towards Camel Pose, Wheel, and King Pigeon.
