MoreMind: Yin Yoga & Sharing Circle Workshop
FINDING FREEDOM FROM SUFFERING
with Nicole Barton & Liz Joy Oakley
Saturday 17th August
1.00pm – 3.30pm
At MoreYoga we believe in a holistic approach to health. We all have physical health, just as we all have mental health. This workshop will run under our MoreMind program and we hope this experience will leave you feeling more open, more connected and less confined by any suffering you may feel in your mind, body and spirit.
“People are born with an innate wellbeing, and resilience. It’s already in there. It’s when we start to think that it’s not that it becomes a problem. None of our stories are our truth; they are simply content, and if we can see this truth or, perhaps more aptly, feel it, we can find freedom irrespective of the external circumstance.” ~ Nicole Barton
Freedom is something available to all of us – freedom from past traumas we need to process, from personal experiences that have affected our wellbeing or from the pressure we can sometimes place upon ourselves to ‘live up’ to the lives we dream of creating for ourselves. In this 2.5 hour MoreMind workshop we will learn how we can will begin to free ourselves from any personal suffering we may be enduring and open our minds and hearts to a healthier approach to our holistic wellbeing and self-care.
We will being with a grounding Yin Yoga & guided Meditation practise with Liz Joy Oakley, followed by a beautiful sharing circle, led by Nicole Barton. Yin Yoga can be a very meditative and healing practise, allowing you to work into areas where you may be storing tension, trauma or stress. Yin can help you to connect to these feelings, to open and to let go of anything you need to emotionally, mentally and physically release.
We will dive deeply but gently into an understanding which helped Nicole drop into insights that completely transformed her life – almost overnight – by simply seeing something different about how our mind really works. Through a nurturing sharing circle we will cultivate a community of connection, hearing from Nicole about her learning from her own story, before opening the circle up to those within the group who want to seek support, to share and make sense of our experiences of suffering. There is a lighter experience of suffering available to all of us, in which we can truly have a different and more fulfilling experience of life. By delving into a unique understanding about how our experience of reality is thought-created and that underneath our personal thinking we are always innately well, we can make sense of anything we suffer with and begin to know and feel that it cannot really impact us.
Life Mentor, Nicole Barton, is something of a unicorn within the self-help industry for her candid notion that nobody needs self-help. She is a breath of fresh air in her admission that while anything that leads us into soul-led expression is useful to shift us out of our heads and into our hearts, none of these practices are prerequisites to peace, as long as people reconnect to the simple truth of who they really are. Nicole is committed to supporting people in finding freedom from whatever their suffering is through workshops, global retreats and one to ones, and is currently working on her first book.
Liz Joy Oakley is a Yoga Teacher and Wellbeing Coach. After starting her career in the fast-paced world of luxury fashion Liz discovered yoga was the only way she could find peace in an increasingly demanding world. After experiencing what is now described as ‘burn- out’ she took a sabbatical and travelled to India where she studied at the Agama Yoga School in Rishikesh and then spent time volunteering at the Himalayan Children’s Care Home in Nepal. Instead of coming home as planned, Liz went on to live in Bali to work at the Safe Childhoods Foundation, an NGO committed to combatting crimes against children. Here she worked on developing a rehabilitation program for children rescued from trafficking using Yoga as a therapeutic tool. After completing her 200 hour YTT at Sadhana Yoga School in 2014 Liz returned to London where she began teaching and never looked back!
Liz is passionate about helping people achieve a healthier, happier lifestyle through Yoga, Mindfulness and Meditation. She works as a teacher in London whilst facilitating workshops and events based around mental health, happiness, nutrition and wellbeing.
